2017 Cadet/Junior National Team Qualifying

Below are the qualifying events for wrestlers to participate in the Cadet/Junior National Championships in Fargo, ND as a member of Team Illinois.

Notes:

  1. Wrestlers MUST be an Illinois resident.
  2. Click the "Age & Weights" link in the navigation bar to review the age groups and weight classes.
  3. Qualifications are DIVISION (Cadet or Junior) and STYLE (Freestyle or Greco-Roman) specific.
  4. A wrestler born in 2000 CAN qualify for the Junior National Championships with a top eight (8) placement at the UWW Cadet National Championships.
  5. A wrestler who qualifies through the Freestyle and Greco-Roman State Championships or the Freestyle and Greco-Roman Second Chance National Team Qualifier MUST wrestle at the weight they qualified at, they CANNOT change weight classes.
  6. A wrestler who qualifies through any of USAW's regional championships or UWW National Championships can wrestle any weight class they choose at the Cadet/Junior National Championships.
  7. If wrestlers do not qualify through the events listed below, they can try to petition onto the team. Click here for more information.

Cadet Freestyle National Team

  1. Place top two (2) at the Illinois Cadet Freestyle State Championships (qualification is weight class specific, see #5 above in Notes).
  2. Win the Cadet Freestyle Second Chance National Team Qualifier (qualification is weight class specific, see #5 above in Notes).
  3. Place top four (4) at any of USAW'S Cadet Freestyle Regional Championships (qualification is NOT weight class specific, see #6 above in Notes).
  4. Place top eight (8) at the UWW Cadet Freestyle National Championships (qualification is NOT weight class specific, see #6 above in Notes).

Cadet Greco-Roman National Team

  1. Place top two (2) at the Illinois Cadet Greco-Roman State Championships (qualification is weight class specific, see #5 above in Notes).
  2. Win the Cadet Greco-Roman Second Chance National Team Qualifier (qualification is weight class specific, see #5 above in Notes).
  3. Place top four (4) at any of USAW's Cadet Greco-Roman Regional Championships (qualification is NOT weight class specific, see #6 above in Notes).
  4. Place top eight (8) at the UWW Cadet Greco-Roman National Championships (qualification is NOT weight class specific, see #6 above in Notes).

Junior Freestyle National Team

  1. Place top two (2) at the Illinois Junior Freestyle State Championships (qualification is weight class specific, see #5 above in Notes).
  2. Win the Junior Freestyle Second Chance National Team Qualifier (qualification is weight class specific, see #5 above in Notes).
  3. Place top four (4) at any of USAW's Junior Freestyle Regional Championships (qualification is NOT weight class specific, see #6 above in Notes).
  4. Place top eight (8) at the UWW Junior Freestyle National Championships (qualification is NOT weight class specific, see #6 above in Notes).
  5. Place top eight (8) at the UWW Cadet Freestyle National Championships (qualification is NOT weight class specific, see #6 above in Notes).

Junior Greco-Roman Team

  1. Place top two (2) at the Illinois Junior Greco-Roman State Championships (qualification is weight class specific, see #5 above in Notes).
  2. Win the Junior Greco-Roman Second Chance National Team Qualifier (qualification is weight class specific, see #5 above in Notes).
  3. Place top four (4) at any of USAW's Junior Greco-Roman Regional Championships (qualification is NOT weight class specific, see #6 above in Notes).
  4. Place top eight (8) at the UWW Junior Greco-Roman National Championships (qualification is NOT weight class specific, see #6 above in Notes).
  5. Place top eight (8) at the UWW Cadet Greco-Roman National Championships (qualification is NOT weight class specific, see #6 above in Notes).
